1. Read extensively outside the test practice
Your reading speed and comprehension will expand expand swiftly if you read something new every day. Try reading a newspaper each morning or a passage from a book every night before your test.
2. Read the question first, then the passage – it will save you time, as you will already know what you are looking for while reading the passage.
Never skip straight to the passage of text in the SAT questions. Always go straight to the question and read that thoroughly first. Then when you read the passage, you’ll know what answer you are looking for. This method makes understanding the question and the correct answer much easier.
3. Do not rush through the questions
Rushing reading the questions will lead to misunderstandings which equate to wrong answers. Always thoroughly read the question and don’t speed read it either. This will improve your accuracy and reading comprehension massively.

4. After reading the passage, answer the question in your own words, and then choose from the options the one closest to your answer.
Simply think through the answer in your head until you have it clearly and concisely. Once you have arrived at what you feel is the correct answer choose the multiple-choice box which most closely matches your own answer.
5. If no option fits your own answer, use the process of elimination
If you can’t find a similar answer to the one you have in your head go through each answer and work out which ones are definitely not correct. This will leave you with one option which is most likely to be correct and you can circle that one.
6. Always read an answer option thoroughly, never half
Tests by nature make people feel as though they’re up against the clock. It’s tempting to rush through the answers in haste to finish as many questions as possible. But this is how mistakes happen. Read each answer option slowly so you have fully understood it. Then once you have a clear idea of what each answer means you’ll know which one is the right one for you to pick.
